The sensor is a detection device, can feel the measured information, and can detect the sensed information, according to the law must transform into electrical signals or other information in the form of output required to meet the information transmission, processing, storage, display, record and control requirements. It is the most important link for realizing automatic detection and automatic control. According to the working principle of the sensor, the sensor can be classified into physical and chemical sensors in two categories:
Classification of physical sensor, the working principle of the sensor is used for physical effects, such as piezoelectric effect, magnetostriction, ionization, polarization, thermoelectric, photoelectric, magnetoelectric effect etc.. Small changes in the signal measured is converted into electrical signals.
Chemical sensors including those by chemical adsorption and electrochemical reaction phenomenon as the sensor of causation, small changes in measured signal will be converted into electrical signals.
Some sensors can be divided into physical, cannot be divided into chemical class.  Most of the sensor is based on the physical basis of the operation principle. Many technical problems of chemical sensors, such as reliability problem, the possibility of mass production, the price problem, to solve this kind of problem, the application of chemical sensors will have tremendous growth.
